UFC star Conor McGregor will attempt to conquer the world of snooker instead, his team has confirmed.
The 29-year-old Irishman will shift his focus to the sport following an unsuccessful thirty minute career in professional boxing.
McGregor will immediately begin formulating plans to dethrone Ronnie O’Sullivan as snooker’s man-to-beat, despite having racked up just 20 minutes of table time in his life.
“I AM SNOOKER”, claimed Conor today while leaving the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas. “They’ve never battled on the baize with an animal like me before. I’m going to rip their fucking eyes out. At Snooker”.
Snooker official, Ray Jenkins, has concerns about McGregor’s latest career move however. “He seems quite shouty on the telly, which is a bit of a worry”, he said. “We don’t even like members of the crowd eating crisps during play, so we may need to make some adjustments.”
McGregor will automatically enter the UK Championships later this year, and for reasons yet to be explained, will be seeded as the number one player ahead of Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Jenkins continued: “Looking at this commercially, I’m not certain that a seven hour best-of-19 match between Conor McGregor and Peter Ebdon will quite have the same pulling power we saw with the boxing.
“We may have to play some music or buy some balloons or something”.
