A frail woman of 87 is thrilled that her birthday wishes were posted on a social media network she’s never heard of to a group of people she’s never met, it’s been revealed.

Miriam Price celebrated her birthday yesterday, and insists that her digital well wishes – that she has no way of reading – is everything she wanted and more.

“I was waiting patiently for the postman to arrive”, she explained today, still bursting with delight. “When all he brought was a gas bill I assumed there’d been a mistake. I tried not to worry and instead waited for seven hours for the phone to ring”.

After waiting in all day with no joy, Miriam said she finally heard promising news from her neighbour. “Joyce next door has a Face Book and apparently my grandkids sent me my birthday wishes in that”, she said.

“I’m really proud of them for going to all that trouble. I’m ashamed to say I don’t have a copy of this Face Book, but I’m on the look out for one”.
